The 'Chronicles of War' is a series of seven complete and self-contained novels that narrate the fabled career of Epsilon Three, Holy Warfarer of the Martial Rite. Orphaned as an infant into a pagan cult of war, Epsilon Three (named for the month and the day he became a foundling) learns the strategies and tactics of war as a prodigy learns physics. Triumphant at the Festival of Alcorde, Epsilon's ultimate reward is banishment beyond the Great Barricade of Empire into a mysterious realm of magic and monsters. The second volume of the series, A Sea of Sand narrates Epsilon's passage from Oreset, a seedy port city, across the Desert Ocean to the distant, haunted steps of Verdune. Their passage is not an easy one, as monstrous insects plague them from dusk until dawn, spurred on by the ire of the most powerful wizard in the land, whom Epsilon mortally offended while setting a king once more upon Oreset's throne.

Near Death License: Freeware

Medical technology continues to progress at a staggering pace. Accordingly, countless victims of trauma and disease 'return' from states of 'near death' every year. This process is no longer deemed a miracle, when it occurs, rather it has become commonplace. It is expected. Though disdained by skeptics as hallucination, the phenomenon known as the 'Near Death Experience', or NDE, is nonetheless a reality for many millions of currently extant human beings. Whatever their true cause or meaning, many of these experiences share common themes. Many NDE's report a sharp contrast between the Dark and the Light. Often, the Light is associated with feelings of overwhelming peace and joy. Many NDE's report the presence of a Being of Light. Some report the presence of a Being of Shadow. Many NDE's indicate that the Light is blindingly brilliant, though its brilliance is painless. Often, a conversation takes place between the 'near dead' and the Being, whether of Light or Shadow. Often, a choice is central to the experience. Go? Or stay? Most NDE's describe an alternate reality that exists beyond the threshold of death. Though individual descriptions of this reality vary, most imply that it is a vast, eternal and sentient construct. While most NDE survivors report calming, reassuring experiences, a few speak of horrific, disturbing ordeals. Regardless of its nature, the Near Death Experience irrevocably alters all that survive it.

Kendrick's Monster License: Freeware
Though Kendrick's Monster is a work of fiction, it is not pure fabrication. All the crimes described within have a firm foundation in factual modern experience. Consider: - At the age of three, Theodore Bundy awakened his caregiver when he disturbed her while stashing large knives under her mattress. He killed for the first time when he was fourteen, at which time a local neighborhood girl disappeared to her death. Bundy often wandered the streets at night, playing with 'imaginary friends', which activity quickly developed into criminal voyeurism. - Jesse Pomeroy regularly tortured and killed animals as a young child. He brutally murdered two young boys when he was only fourteen years of age. While the evidence against him was instantly damning (they found the mummified corpse of one young girl in the basement of his home), and despite his many confessions, Pomeroy eventually claimed he was innocent, because 'a voice in [his] head' told him to say so. - As early as the age of eight, Arthur Shawcross developed 'imaginary' friends, with which he would speak using 'strange voices'. By his early teens, he spent hours walking in the woods yelling at inanimate objects and beating the undergrowth with a stick, as if in torment from unseen demons. - David Berkowitz said of his crimes, "The demons never stopped. I couldn't sleep. I had no strength to fight. I could barely drive. Coming home from work one night, I almost killed myself in the car. I needed to sleep. The demons wouldn't give me any peace." While these are merely anecdotal illustrations of a murderous psyche's development, they nonetheless beg a central question; are these individuals evil and what is the true nature of this evil? Perhaps these are real, tangible demons born of an unknown, nether world. Worse still, perhaps they are fantastic, intangible demons, born of a tormented mind, fashioned from the fabric of the human nature, which is the fabric that binds us all.

By December 31 of 2001, 3,581 offenders in 38 states resided in so called ‘Death Row’ cells, awaiting legal execution. By the date of this writing, Texas, alone, has executed 456 prisoners: 447 men and 9 women. From December 7, 1982 through June 30, 2004, Texas executed 164 whites, 111 blacks, 46 Hispanics, and 2 individuals racially classified as ‘other’ (the total for this time range is 323 executions). Information regarding these convictions has long been open to the public. Most death penalty trials are popularly publicized. Anyone may review the gruesome, inhuman circumstances that deliver these offenders to their fates. Regardless of emotional opinion or scientific analysis, any human being must admit that the horrific nature of capital crimes is deserving of the harshest sort of punishment. Detractors of the death penalty argue that cold, cruel statistical law demands a certain amount of error within any complex system. The citizens of Texas believe appellate and clemency processes act to alleviate these errors. In fact, since Texas reinstated the death penalty in 1972, approximately 150 previously condemned prisoners left Death Row by means other than execution. Most of these fortunate few received reduced or dismissed sentences on appeal or retrial. Twenty-five died of natural causes while incarcerated. A half-dozen prisoners committed suicide. Fellow inmates murdered three. However dismayed their detractors may be, most Texans apparently find comfort in the punitive determination of their criminal justice system. The average condemned prisoner lives on Texas Death Row for 10.34 years at a cost of $61.58 (FY 2002) per day per prisoner. Joe Gonzales of Potter County was executed after only 252 days on the Row, having forfeited his right to multiple appeals. Excell White of Collin County lived there 8,982 days (24 years). Who died happier?

A more detailed study of the significant cult events briefly listed in the partial twenty-year timeline offered below would reveal to the reader how such organizations intentionally, insidiously and effectively use various mind control techniques, including drug therapies, to control their subjects. The events set forth in The Oracle of Delphi, therefore, must seem all the more plausible, indeed all the more likely, when viewed in comparison to these actual events. Fact is, after all, stranger than fiction. March 1997: Marshall Applewhite and 38 followers commit mass suicide in a concerted effort to escape their bodies and board a spacecraft believed to be following comet Hale-Bopp. October 1994: The burned bodies of 48 Solar Temple members are discovered in a farmhouse and three chalets in Switzerland. At the same time, five bodies, including that of an infant, are found in a chalet north of Montreal. Twenty-one more deaths follow in December of 1995 and March of 1997. April 1993: At least 70 Branch Davidian cult members die after a 51-day siege of their religious compound near Waco, Texas. The sect's leader, David Koresh, who told followers he was Jesus Christ, dies of a gunshot wound to the head. October 1993: Fifty-three hill Vietnamese tribe villagers commit mass suicide with flintlock guns and other primitive weapons in the belief they will go straight to heaven. They are victims of fraud committed by a man who receives cash donations for promising a speedy road to paradise. December 1991: Mexican minister Ramon Morales Almazan and 29 followers suffocate after he tells them to keep praying and ignore toxic fumes filling their church. December 1990: Twelve people die in a religious ritual in Tijuana, Mexico, apparently after drinking fruit punch tainted by industrial alcohol. November 1978: The Rev. Jim Jones leads 914 followers to their deaths at Jonestown, Guyana. Most of the congregation drinks cyanide-laced grap
