Usually when infected with Vundo the user is bombarded with popups for WinFixer, Amaena, WinAntiVirus, ErrorSafe, SystemDoctor and DriveCleaner. Generally an updated version is released once a week and in some special cases sometimes 2 or 3 times in a week. The tool has had great success removing the infection from over 1 million computers to date and I hope to continue with that same success into the future. One of the main install vectors for Vundo that we have found is through Java exploits in older versions of Java. Be sure to keep Java updated and remove older versions after updating. Java updates are available from Sun MicroSystems from here. Old versions of Java can be safely removed through Add or Remove Programs in Windows.Another good idea is to install all Windows Critical Updates. We have seen many variants of Vundo installed through IRC bots that use flaws in the Windows Operating System.
