Ever wished there was an easy way to rename files or directories quickly without having to struggle with clunky graphical interfaces? RenameWand can help you with that!
RenameWand is a simple command-line utility for renaming files or directories using an intuitive but powerful syntax (like regex, only much easier).
Perform string operations (e.g. case conversions, rearrangements of substrings), arithmetic operations (e.g. on the numbers in the filename), enumerate files (e.g. by name, size, time, or other attributes), insert time stamps, and many more file and system attributes with ease!
RenameWand supports pattern matching using glob patterns and wildcards *, ?, [ ], and { }, as well as a special register capture group construct.
Runs on any OS with the Java Runtime Environment (JRE 6+). RenameWand is free and open source software written in Java and released under the GNU GPL license (version 3).
MAIN FEATURES:
* Supports the common glob patterns and wildcards *, ?, [ ], and { } for matching filenames.
* Use a special register capture group construct to capture strings of characters in the filename.
* Macros are defined for a variety of file and system attributes, such as file name (FN.*), file size (FS.*), file last-modified time (FT.*), current time (CT.*), system environment variables (ENV.*), and system properties (SYS.*).
* A wide range of operations can be applied to registers and macros: case conversions (e.g. *.upper, *.lower, *.title), substring operations (e.g. myreg[1:3]), arithmetic operations (e.g. a/(b-c)^d), enumeration operations (e.g. #FT, #(myreg1+myreg2)), and more.
* File rename operations are sequenced so that they are conflict-free, and temporary filenames are automatically used when necessary.

Sync is a simple command-line utility for performing one-way directory or file synchronization.
It synchronizes the specified target to match the specified source. Only the target is modified.
Runs on any OS with the Java Runtime Environment (JRE 6+).
Sync is free and open source software written in Java and released under the GNU GPL license (version 3).
MAIN FEATURES:
* FLEXIBLE FILE-MATCHING: Match files by combinations of name, size, last-modified time, and CRC-32 checksum; by default, (name, size, time,CRC) are used.
* FLEXIBLE FILE TIME COMPARISON: Specify a time-tolerance (in milliseconds) when matching files by their last-modified time.
* FILENAME FILTER: Use a GLOB or REGEX filter for file/directory names, or their full (relative) pathnames.
* SIMULATION MODE: Sync can be run to simulate file operations, so that the target directory is not modified.
* UNATTENDED USAGE: With an appropriate choice of switches, Sync can be executed without user intervention.

ZipSnap

Ever wished there was an easy way to backup multiple versions of your files, or quickly synchronize them across different computers (even on different operating systems) so that you always work with the most recent copies? ZipSnap can help you with that!
ZipSnap creates archives that are collections of point-in-time snapshots. An archive is just a directory of catalogs (plain text files compressed as ZIP files) and compressed volumes (ZIP files). When a snapshot is added to an archive, a new compressed volume is created, containing only new or modified files and directories. A catalog is used to store information on the snapshots and contents of the archive. Files are automatically numbered with a timestamp. Runs on any OS with the Java Runtime Environment (JRE 6+). ZipSnap is free and open source software written in Java and released under the GNU GPL license (version 3).
MAIN FEATURES:
* ZipSnap creates archives that are collections of point-in-time snapshots. An archive is just a directory of catalogs (plain text files compressed as ZIP files) and compressed volumes (ZIP files).
* Catalogs are written cumulatively, i.e. a later catalog contains all the information from previous catalogs. Therefore, only the latest catalog is needed when adding/restoring snapshots.
* Catalogs and compressed volumes are automatically timestamped as ArchiveName.yyyyMMdd-HHmmss.n, with extensions .txt.zip and .zip respectively, where n is the snapshot number.
* Because ZipSnap never modifies a catalog or compressed volume after it is created, archives can be stored on write-once-only media.
* ZipSnap supports GLOB and REGEX filters for file/directory names, or their full (relative) pathnames.
