Brown Bear Screensaver

The free animal screensaver, Brown Bear, contains 28 high quality images of Brown Bears. The brown bear (Ursus arctos) is a species of bear distributed throughout the Northern hemisphere. Weighing up to 130 - 700 kg (290-1,500 pounds), the larger races of brown bear tie with the Polar bear as the largest extant land carnivores. The grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis), the Kodiak Bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi), and the Mexican brown bear are North American subspecies of the brown bear. However, DNA analysis has recently revealed that the identified subspecies of brown bears, both Eurasian and North American, are genetically quite homogeneous, and that their genetic phylogeography does not correspond to their traditional taxonomy. It is sometimes referred to poetically as the bruin.- wiki

Pluto the Dead Planet Screensaver

The free screensaver, Pluto the Dead Planet, was created by RateMyScreensaver and contains 15 high resolution images of the dwarf planet Pluto. It's official: Pluto is no longer a planet. It is now only a dwarf planet, one of three in the solar system. The fate of Pluto was determined on Thursday August 24th, 2006 by a vote among members of the International Astronomical Union in Prague.
Pluto is the second-largest known dwarf planet in the solar system and the tenth largest observed body directly orbiting the Sun. It orbits between 29 and 49 AU from the Sun, and was the first Kuiper Belt object to be discovered. Approximately one-fifth the mass of the Earth's Moon, Pluto is primarily composed of rock and ice. It has an eccentric orbit that is highly inclined with respect to the planets and takes it closer to the Sun than Neptune during a portion of its orbit. - wiki

The free screensaver, The Distant Planet Neptune, was created by RateMyScreensaver and contains 19 high resolution images of the planet Neptune. Neptune is the eighth and farthest planet from the Sun in our solar system. It is the fourth largest planet by diameter and the third largest by mass; Neptune is 17 times the mass of Earth and is slightly more massive than its near twin Uranus, which is 14 Earth masses, but slightly smaller due to its higher density. The planet is named after the Roman god of the sea. - wiki

The free screensaver, The Great Planet Saturn, was created by RateMyScreensaver and contains 19 high resolution images of Saturn. Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun. It is a gas giant (also known as a Jovian planet, after the planet Jupiter), the second-largest planet in the Solar System after Jupiter. Saturn has a prominent system of rings, consisting mostly of ice particles with a smaller amount of rocky debris and dust. It was named after the Roman God Saturn (the Greek equivalent is Cronos, father of Zeus). - wiki

The free screensaver, The Moon, was created by RateMyScreensaver and contains 19 high resolution images of the Moon. The Moon is the second brightest object in the sky after the Sun. As the Moon orbits around the Earth once per month, the angle between the Earth, the Moon and the Sun changes; we see this as the cycle of the Moon's phases. Due to its size and composition, the Moon is sometimes classified as a terrestrial planet along with Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.

The Mysteries of Saturn Screensaver

| |
The free screensaver, The Mysteries of Saturn, was created by RateMyScreensaver and contains 18 high resolution images of Saturn. The planet Saturn is primarily composed of hydrogen, with small proportions of helium and trace elements. The interior consists of a small core of rock and ice, surrounded a thick layer of metallic hydrogen and a gaseous outer layer. The outer atmosphere is generally bland in appearance, although long-lived features can appear. Wind speeds on Saturn can reach 1,800 km/hr; significantly faster than on Jupiter. Saturn has a planetary magnetic field that is intermediate in strength between Earth's and the more powerful field around Jupiter. - wiki

The Perfect Storm Screensaver

The free screensaver, The Perfect Storm, was created by RateMyScreensaver.com and contains 12 high resolution images of awesome storms on planet Mars. Mars has the largest dust storms in the Solar System. These can vary from a storm over a small area, to gigantic storms that cover the entire planet. They tend to occur when Mars is closest to the Sun, and have been shown to increase the global temperature. Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and is known as the Red Planet due to its reddish appearance as seen from Earth. The planet is named after Mars, the Roman god of war. A terrestrial planet, Mars has a thin atmosphere and surface features reminiscent both of the impact craters of the Moon and the volcanoes, valleys, deserts and polar ice caps of Earth. It has the highest mountain in the solar system, Olympus Mons, and the largest canyon, Valles Marineris. Mars' rotational period and seasonal cycles are also similar to those of the Earth. - wiki

The free screensaver, The Red Planet, was created by RateMyScreensaver.com and contains 23 high resolution images of planet Mars. Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and is known as the Red Planet due to its reddish appearance as seen from Earth. Of all the planets, Mars's seasons are the most Earth-like, due to the similar tilts of the two planets' rotational axes. However, the lengths of the Martian seasons are about twice those of Earth's, as Mars's greater distance from the sun leads to the Martian year being approximately two Earth years in length. - wiki
