   Freeware: Router Port Configuration

 Port Mapper  License: Freeware

Port Mapper is a freeware tool which helps home users open/close ports in their routers and gateways securely. It automatically maps and manages ports in the router, enabling online multiplayer game play without disturbing the gaming session. Port Mapper is more secure than manually opening and closing ports, because it opens the ports only when needed and automatically closes them when you are finished playing. Port Mapper works with your Internet gateway/router in such a way that you can have control on the programs that communicate over your network. Using Port Mapper, you can expose applications to your friends over the internet in a safe manner. It also supports wireless connectivity and notifies you when you go out of range of the gateway. If you are a gaming freak who loves gaming on the internet and don't want to be disturbed with the manual opening and closing of ports at your router, you are sure gonna love this tiny tool.

 Paessler Netflow Tester  License: Freeware

Paessler Netflow Tester dumps the data of all Netflow packets that a computer receives from a Cisco router. This can be useful when debugging bandwidth monitoring configurations based on Cisco's Netflow protocol. First the Netflow protocol must be enabled and configured on the router. Then the router must be given the IP address of the computer running Netflow tester so that the UDP data packets with Netflow data are sent to that computer. Just follow these simple instructions: 1) Download Paessler Netflow Tester and then start netflowtest.exe 2) Enter the IP and port number that you have configured as netflow packet target in your Cisco Router. Usually selecting "any IP" should work, in some cases the IP must be explicitly selected. 3) Enable "Start Netflow Collector". 4) You should now see a line in the logfile for each packet the computer receives. Each line shows the time, netflow version, number of flows and the IP of a packet (note: You need netflow version 5 for PRTG Traffic Grapher!) 5) Enable "Show Flow Data" to also show the corresponding flow data. 6) If you do not see any activity then the system does not receive any netflow data (e.g. due to misconfiguration of the router or a firewall blocking the packets, etc.)

 Emsa Port Blocker  License: Freeware

Emsa Port Blocker is a TCP blocking utility. What it does, is blocking unwanted tcp access from/to your computer. It is not a firewall, but up to some extent it could be regarded as a similar tool. Its purpose is to prohibit TCP access on certain ports and ip addresses. IT can also be used as a TCP monitor because it shows TCP connections currently active on the machine. This program works two ways. It can be configured to block access to certain local ports, but it can also prohibit access to specified remote ports as well. For example, you may try adding the port '80' to remote blocked ports. You'll immediately notice that you have disabled your browser's capability from accessing the www. You can use this program to block unauthorized access to certain ports on your computer, for example network ports like TCP 135 or 139 and so on. You can also use the configuration to permit connections between local IP's, or block even those as desired. The program comes with a function allowing to detect local ip's and adding them to the 'allowed' IP list. Functions: - When first started up, the program shows a list of TCP connections on your machine. If you don't see anything there, try opening browser and visit some site and you'll see them. - By unchecking the 'Show only connected' checkbox the program will also show tcp connections in other states, like LISTENING and so on. - The left hand list is versatile and its meaning depends on the last button clicked - check the label above to see what the list is currently displaying. - To add items to a list, type into the textbox below and click on add. Make sure you enter valid data (valid ip addresses/ valid port numbers). To delete one item, select it in the list and click on 'Delete'. - To view Allowed IP Addresses, click on the corresponding button. By default, here you will see your local IP address (127.0.0.1). You may want to add all your local IP addresses to the allowed list. This program is Freeware.

 PC SMS Receiver  License: Freeware

"PC SMS Receiver" is an application for receiving SMS messages on your PC via a GSM modem or a mobile phone connected to a serial port (or a USB port with a cable driver creating a virtual serial port). To be used with "PC SMS Receiver" your mobile phone must support the AT command set for receiving SMS messages, as defined in the GSM 07.05 Specification. "PC SMS Receiver" can receive and reassemble "long" (or "concatenated") SMS messages. A GSM modem is preferable to a mobile phone because some mobile phones do not forward "long" messages via the modem interface. "PC SMS Receiver" was tested with Siemens C55 mobile phone and Siemens TC35 GSM modem.

 PCISniffer  License: Freeware

Areas of Use # PCI device detection for PCs # vendor and device names in plain text # displaying PCI configuration data # detecting PCI resource conflicts New in version 1.5: # Storing PCI data to floppy disk # 1634 vendors in clear text # 4829 devices in clear text Program Description If you want to have the full control of your computer, you ought to know which devices are installed in your machine. Independently of the installed operating system the PCISniffer displays the PCI header data of all PCI devices on the BUS unaltered. PCISniffer scans all PCI busses in the PC and detects automatically which busses and devices are present. You can comfortably browse the detected devices and list all functions of these devices in a detailled display. Since the installed operating system will not be booted, it has no possibility to alter the configuration, thus allowing you the direct access to the data. This makes it possible to detect resource conflicts and solve them. Even if your computer runs problem-free it is often interesting to know, which devices are exactly installed. Besides the not very useful PCI numbers the real name of the device and the vendor are shown; the complete list of installed PCI devices or parts of it can be sent over the serial interface to a connected computer, where the complete configuration can be saved.

 ScopePar  License: Freeware

ScopePar turns a PC into a multi-channel oscilloscope module utilizing the parallel port, the user interface to which is SeriCon on other PC. If you have an old PC, boot it by dos to run ScopePar and control it by SeriCon on your GUI PC through serial port. The free trial version of SeriCon is enough in usual cases. Important features are: ScopePar is now a 5 channel square wave oscilloscope. Square waves mean that it just reads the high or low levels of the port pins (Later versions may be able to show curves, requiring ADC attached to the port). SeriCon shows only 2 channels, unless you have the full license. Sampling rates around several 100kHz can be reached. The measurement can be triggered by the first channel. You can select the level change (low-to-high or high-to-low). The measurement can be automated by specifying the period of sending the command from SeriCon (with the full license).

I/O UPS Weather Event Monitoring  License: Freeware

This software allows to receive data sent by external devices as a weather station, a UPS, a webcam, and to look up these data remotely. This application also allows to define and launch emergency processes when necessary, and this according to user-defined alarm thresholds (temperature, humidity, barometry, wind speed) or in the event of a power failure (if a UPS is connected to the software). This program communicates with an Oregon weather station connected to the computer via its USB port. It also communicates with an I/O USB card from Velleman (VM110) and with a UPS via its USB port or RS-232 serial port in order to detect power failures. The software can also use pictures taken by one or several webcams in order to allow visual monitoring of processes or places, for example. None of these devices are mandatory, the user connects the ones he/she needs within his/her own configuration. The Oregon weather station can be used in order to monitor the temperature and humidity of a computer room, for example, or of several rooms (up to 10 sensors can be added). In this case, the software will use the collected data as environmental data, while, if the user adds the Oregon anemometer to its configuration in order to measure the wind speed, all the data sent by the Oregon station will be used as real weather data. Moreover, the data are registered both 'real-time' and under the form of averages, minimas and maximas, this continuously, day by day, in order to allow later reuse. All these functions are available : - from within the software itself - via the web browser of your choice (Internet Explorer strongly recommended) on the PC where the software is installed - via a remote web browser (Internet Explorer strongly recommended) inside or outside of your private network. In this case, the Dedicated Web Server included in the software must available on the Internet.
