Python

 PythonGuide  License: Freeware

There are lots of Python tutorials out there, but we found none are as clear and simple as the Beazley slides. The only thing missing was an index. This point and click index makes Python as easy to use as JavaScript. For webmasters who need to do utility work, it is much easier than learning Perl. PythonGuide is Forever Free Software licensed under the GNU General Public License of the Free Foftware Foundation. Thank you for your support of InnerPeace. InnerPeace is not primarily a webmaster programming site. However, in the course of doing our web site, we have discovered few things that other webmasters may find helpful, many of which are not elsewhere available. This is one of them.

SynchronEX Backup & FTP  License: Freeware

SynchronEX is a versatile tool for synchronization, backup and FTP of files and directories - optimized for one-click automation and supporting shell usage. Possible applications are laptop/server-synchronisation, backup and incremental backup over network or local paths, automated incremental FTP upload of web sites, ZIP archives, multi-point authoring with collision detection, consistent synchronization of work and home computer via disk or net. For advanced usage it supports super and sub syncs, nested syncs, remove or hard syncs, multi root syncs, one-way syncs, complex exclude and include patterns, Python scripting, etc. It is not only a file and directory synchronizer, many additional tools are included, like finding duplicate files and empty directories. It is basically a shell application, but is well integrated into the Windows Explorer. A key concept of SychronEX are small sync config files, usually placed at the root point of the file tree of interest.

 DISLIN PDF Manual  License: Freeware

DISLIN is a high-level library of subroutines and functions that display data graphically. It is intended to be a powerful and easy to use software package for programmers and scientists that does not require knowledge of hardware features. The software is available for the programming languages C, Fortran 77, Fortran 90, Perl, Python and Java. DISLIN can display graphic information directly on graphic terminals or store them in metafiles. The supported display types are VGA, X Windows, Windows API and Tektronix. The supported file formats are GKSLIN, CGM, HPGL, PostScript, PDF, Prescribe, WMF, PNG and TIFF. The library contains the following features: - 9 software fonts where each font provides 6 alphabets. Hardware fonts for PostScript printers, X11 fonts for X11 displays and TrueType fonts for Windows 95/98/NT displays and WMF files can also be used. The different aphabets contain Roman, Greek, Russian, mathematical and special European characters. Plotting of mathematical formulas with TeX instructions. - Plotting of two- and three-dimensional axis systems. Axes can be linearly or logarithmically scaled and labeled with linear, logarithmic, date, time, map and user-defined formats. - Plotting of curves. Several curves can appear in one axis system and can be differentiated by colour, line style and pattern. Multiple axis systems can be displayed on a page. - Plotting of legends. - Elementary plot routines for lines, vectors and outlined or filled regions such as rectangles, circles, arcs, ellipses and polygons. - Shielded regions can be defined. - Business graphics. - 3-D colour graphics. - 3-D graphics. - Elementary image routines. - Geographical projections and plotting of maps. - Contouring. - Graphical user interface (GUI) routines based on Motif and Windows API functions. - English manuals in PostScript, PDF and HTML format are available.

GanttPV for the Mac  License: Freeware

GanttPV is used to create project schedules and manage team performance. GanttPV schedules any number of projects. It captures the tasks for each project along with task estimates, durations, dependencies, and start dates. For each task it calculates the end date, free float, and total float. It creates gantt charts by day, week, month, or quarter or any combination. Charts and reports can be exported as HTML. GanttPV helps determine task assignments. It allocates hours to resources based on task duration and effort estimates. It calculates resource workload by day and week. Resources can be assigned to multiple projects. GanttPV manages followup activities. It supports prioritization within and across projects. GanttPV tracks the team's productivity (using earned value hours) and expenses (comparing planned vs. actual non-labor expenses). Advantages: Easy to install & easy to use. It has a one-step installation (that doesn't require other programs or libraries to be installed first). Extensive documentation, including a guided tour, is available at the GanttPV web site. Unlimited undo and redo encourages discovery. Scriptable. It includes the popular Python programming language. Users with programming experience may wish to write their own scripts. Everyone can benefit from scripts available at the GanttPV web site. Scripts can be used to automate tasks, add new functions, and import or export data. Scripts are added to GanttPV's Script menu by placing them in the Scripts directory. They act as if they were built in menu commands. Runs on Microsoft Windows, Macintosh OS X, and Linux platforms. It was developed using wxPython, one of the most popular choices for cross platform development. Offered under the GNU GPL which means that you may freely copy this software and share it with your team members and fellow project managers. No more paperwork or negotiations to justify purchase of the scheduling tool you need.
