 ActiveLaunch Lite  License: Freeware

ActiveLaunch gives you the ability to open frequently used applications, documents, and folders not using your mouse only, but also using your keyboard, never having to memorize the multitude of hotkeys. ActiveLaunch main window looks similar to a regular folder window in My Computer with icons reflected in it being analogues to Windows shortcuts. Any icon can be associated with any keyboard shortcuts. To launch a program from the keyboard you only need to call up the main ActiveLaunch windows by pressing the hotkey, and then pressing the keyboard shortcut associated with that program without any keyboard modifiers. Just two hits. That is very quick. Keyboard shortcuts are listed next to each icon; therefore you don't need to memorize them. And surely you may open folders, documents, or web-sites the same way. Alt + Backspace is the default hotkey combination, but you can change it. And indeed, instead of pressing the keyboard shortcut you may click the corresponding icon as well. While holding Ctrl you can also select desired icons and launch corresponding objects (e.g. folders, files, and web pages) at once. After launching an application, opening a document or a folder the ActiveLaunch window is automatically closed. To add icons you can either use the menu or the Windows Drag&Drop technology. However, in some Windows versions, drives and My Documents folder can be added only through the menu. In a multi-user environment every Windows-user is assigned with an individual set of properties and icons.

 Stay Live 2000  License: Freeware

Does your Internet Service Provider drop your dial-up connection after what seems like only nanoseconds of account inactivity? Stay Live 2000 keeps your Internet Dial-Up Connection active and on-line by periodically sending a small TCP/IP packet to one of the many Atomic Clocks maintained by the United States Government. Sending these small packets prevents your ISP from dropping your connection due to inactivity. You may also optionally select to have your computer's internal real-time clock updated each time one of these packets is sent and a response is returned from an NIST Time Server. You can use this utility in one of two ways. Either run your web browser or other Internet software and then launch Stay Live to keep your connection active, or launch Stay Live first to establish an Internet connection and then run your web browser or other software.

 BeTrayed  License: Freeware

BeTrayed! is a small 32 bit command line utility which allows you to easily add a collection of shortcuts to the System Tray (Notification Area in Microsoft speak) It allows you to quickly access frequently used folders, files, URLs and applications - even though they were never designed to be launched from the Tray. For maximum flexibility, BeTrayed! functions in two modes, either single command mode or, more usually, in Batch mode where it adds multiple icons to the Tray, all managed by one instance of BeTrayed! - in both modes, you specify the command to launch and, optionally, the tooltip text to show and an alternative icon. If not specified, the tooptip defaults to the command line and the icon to the default icon contained in the file (or if there isn't one, the one for the associated application) For instance, to add a single icon to the System Tray to launch Calc, you could use: BeTrayed c:windowssystem32calc.exe,Calculator This would create a new Tray icon (with the default icon from Calc.exe), which would show a tooltip of 'Calculator' In batch mode, the parameter passed to BeTrayed! is actually the name of a text file containing the individual command lines. To use Batch mode with BeTrayed!, simple pass BeTrayed! the name of the controlling text file, prefixed with "/batch:" ie. BeTrayed /batch:Standard.tray BeTrayed! would now look for a file called 'Standard.tray' - which would contain a list of appropriate commands, ie. ;Sample BeTrayed! batch mode control file ; Anything beginning with a semi-colon is a comment! ; Windows Calc using default Calc.exe icon c:windowssystem32calc.exe,Windows Calculator ; Users shared area via UNC path, using custom icon. \JBFDataUsersShared,User Shared Area,sa.ico ; Launch URL with default browser (using 3rd icon in browser exe) http://www.mycompanyintranet.com/PhoneDir.html,Contact List,3 From the above 'Standard.tray' file, 3 icons would be added to the Tray.
