ODBC Viewer, View or edit any ODBC enabled database. Use Table Dump and Table Reload feature to test and retest your applications. Viewer shows content and structure without the orginal Database Frontend. The program connects to an ODBC connection for viewing data, editing data, displaying field information, exporting the data in a table and importing the data that was exported. First step is to correlate an ODBC structure with an Alias. Create a new alias, select the Database Drive Name, enter a name of the Alias in place of the default name and select the path to the ODBC database. If your tables are not local, you may need to define access to your tables via the operating system ODBC Administrator. Start the program and select the alias from the dropdown list and the tables will be displayed. The number of fields and Record Count or number of records in the table is displayed in the upper right. The lower display describes the database, alias and field information. Right click on the table information to save to a file. Options in the Maintenance menu provides the ability to do a table dump to an ASCII file and to reload the data what was dumped. This is useful when table data is read, exported, modified and deleted during testing of custom processing. When reloading data into a table the Alias and Table name must match. If the table that is selected has a memo field, a memo display will appear between the records and table information and the data in the memo field is displayed when the memo field is selected.

What is ARPCache? ARPCache is a secret, undocumented section of the registry used to store information for Add/Remove Program items in the latest versions of Windows. If you open Add/Remove Programs in the newer versions of Windows, you will notice that certain information has been added, such as, size, frequency of use, and last used on. This data is kept in binary files in the ARPCache of the registry, which means that even if you know where it is in the registry, you probably will not be able to read it. ARPCache Viewer deciphers the binary files and shows you what is in each entry. ARPCache is not ARP Cache Some people have mistakenly confused this ARPCache (which obviously stands for Add Remove Programs Cache) with the documented ARP (which stands for Address Resolution Protocol) Cache of the Windows operating system. The documented ARP has to do with resolving IP addresses across networks. This has nothing to do with the ARPCache in the registry. The Dirt Behind ARPCache A problem with the ARPCache is that Windows automatically adds to this storage area but it does not automatically remove items when they are uninstalled. ShellRun is a program that will display a web page when your CD is inserted into a Windows computer. ShellRun can alternatively display a PDF file, Word document, MP3 file or any other document. AutoRun works in Windows only. ShellRun displays a small pop up window and then attempts to run the appropriate viewer program to show your file. For example, for a web page, ShellRun asks Windows to start the default browser to display the web page. Put the ShellRun.exe runtime on your CD along with a suitable AUTORUN.INF file. Remember to print manual instructions on your CD for users who have AutoRun disabled, or for those who have other sorts of computer. ShellRun can also be run from a command line prompt or using Start+Run to display a file or URL. The development kit has an install/uninstall facility. The development kit also contains an article describing how to put a web site on CD, i.e. produce HTML CDs. The retail version lets you customize or remove the ShellRun pop up window, and determines what to do if a suitable viewer program is not available.
