By using the standard, multi-threaded DirectShow architecture, it is fast and feels at home in Windows Media Player. Indeed, it is often much faster than the standard QT Player. You have to have QuickTime installed. The filter uses the codecs from the QT installation. Once installed, you can open mov, mp4, m4v, m4a, dv, 3gp, 3g2, amr, and flc files in Windows Media Player. It is not a seperate application software. Note, it does not change the default file association. It enables WMP to play the QuickTime files types.
